HMG is asking for support for one of our HMG employees – Jake, who is currently facing a challenging battle against cancer.
“I never thought I’d be told that I have cancer at 23, but a couple of days before I finished up work I was sat down and given the news.”
The next few months will be demanding as Jake undergoes chemotherapy to combat this illness.
“I’m not sure how long I’ll be going through chemo, but I’ve been given a figure of probably 6 months.”
Jake’s courage is bolstered by the incredible support he has received. The care and encouragement extended by the hospital’s cancer care team provide a vital foundation for his fight. Yet, it’s the unwavering support from his friends, family, and his girlfriend that has lifted his spirits.
“I’ve been taken aback by the amount of support from the hospital’s cancer care team, and most importantly, the genuine, solid support from my friends, family, and my girlfriend.”
“To be fair, if you’re going to get cancer, lymphoma seems to be the way to go (super treatable).”
Jake acknowledges the incredible role played by individuals like Michael, whose support from the very beginning has been an incredible source of strength.
“Special thanks to Michael for personal and real support from the start, just an unreal amount of kindness and going the extra mile sort of stuff that anyone who knows you would not at all be surprised to hear.”
Jake mentions the meaningful connections he’s forged with his workmates.
“Can’t thank everyone enough for the overwhelming support and heart-warming chats. Even offers for lifts to the hospital and a number to call if I ever needed. Insane.”
